Pátzcuaro, Michoacán — where every door tells a story

From the Mountains
of Michoacán.

Nestled high in the mountains of Michoacán, Mexico, is Pátzcuaro: a small pueblo just outside the city of Morelia where time slows down and craftsmanship thrives. Cobblestone streets wind through whitewashed buildings trimmed in deep red clay. Every door, every carving, every piece of copper tells the story of generations who have shaped beauty with their hands. The magical town that Ángel Tavera calls home.

The unforgettable doors you stop to photograph in San Miguel de Allende are born in workshops like these in Pátzcuaro; doors that make you pause to admire intricate details shaped by generations of knowledge and experience. They are functional works of art that stand the test of time and leave a lasting impression on every guest who walks through them.

"A front door is more than an entryway. It is your home’s handshake; your family’s first impression; a daily reminder of craftsmanship, history, and heart."

Who We Are

Ángel grew up in Morelia, Michoacán, surrounded by magnificent craftsmanship and colonial architecture that remains unmatched. Today, he lives and works as a custom home builder in Central Texas with his wife Charli, helping bring homeowners’ dreams to life one project at a time. His lifelong vision has been to connect his heritage and his new home; bringing the craftsmanship and artistry of San Miguel to the homeowners and communities he serves. Through Frente, he’s able to bring artisan luxury home designs to life; pairing old-world hand-carved detail with modern architecture, so each piece feels like both a work of art and a perfect fit. When you commission a piece with us, you are sharing in that story: a door that opens in the mountains of Mexico and closes as a statement piece in your home.

Doors That Become
Part of the Story

“The double doors Ángel built for our entryway are unlike anything we could have found in the US. Every guest stops and asks about them.”
